Looking Glass Arts :: Summer Workshop Designs

April 22nd, 2009 Josh Shayne Posted in design 1 Comment »

Last summer I taught a 3-week summer filmmaking intensive to high-school film and acting students in association with the non-profit arts organization ‘Looking Glass Arts.’

While I will not be able to return as an instructor this summer due to scheduling conflicts, I was thrilled when Looking Glass contacted me to produce these promotional materials for their 2009 workshop.

I tried to incorporate Looking Glass Arts’ vibrant colors and showcase how professional and hands-on their unique program actually is. If you know anyone in the Boulder/Denver area of high-school age interested in film, acting or composing, I highly recommend their workshop.

NutritionBikes.com Business Card

Below is a Business Card I designed for NutritionBikes.com — a website that specializes in providing nutritional supplements for high-performance athletics. I wanted to incorporate bicycling into the design but with a strong, green-health flavor. I created the bicycle illustration myself.

Email Newsletter Design:On Broadway Salon + Spa

On Broadway Salon + Spa approached me about creating a custom Email Newsletter Template that was both colorful and sophisticated. This design serves as a template: the text and photo content is swapped out with each mailing, and the sidebar information with upcoming news, events and specials is variable as well.

Online Shop Design: NutritionResearchCenter.org

February 6th, 2009 Josh Shayne Posted in design No Comments »

I’ve rebooted the design of NutritionResearchCenter.org’s online shop. They were originally using an out-of-the-box solution for their shop design. It didn’t match their blog and the experience was clunky.

Since the shop was built with OsCommerce, I had to work within certain confines to re-envision the design + function. I am very happy with the result as I was able to make the shop navigation smart + intuitive with a useful left sidebar; I created a more attractive + easier to browse product layout; and I transformed the overall experience into one that is much more user-friendly.
